How B
& B for Free Started
B&B for Free came into being after we did a Home Exchange with
another family. We lived in Longmont Colorado, USA and the other
family lived in England, Great Britain. We thought the idea of
exchanging homes sounded fun and interesting. Once we did it, there
were many reasons we did not want to do it again ...
- We knew nothing about the area we were visiting.
- Had we been in an area where we didn't know the language,
getting around or getting help from neighbors could have been
quite difficult.
- We would have liked help with travel ideas: places to go,
things to do.
- We would have liked help with appliance differences from our
home: dishwasher, clothes washer, clothes dryer, etc.
- If we stayed in a hotel, we would not feel comfortable
leaving our valuables unattended.
- We would feel safer staying with a family than in a hotel.
- We would like to save money by buying food and preparing it
at our hosts home with their assistance, if needed.
- We would like the opportunity to get to know someone better
in our travel destination.
- We would like to have our host's ideas on what to do and
what not to do in the area.
- We didn't know if the people living in our house would
respect our privacy and property.
- We didn't know what would go on at our house when strangers
had free run of the house.
- We didn't know if our exchange partners would be thoughtful
about leaving our house in the same condition as we left it.
- Chances are that all this would not be a problem, but how do
you know for sure if you don't know your exchange family?
- And, if you know your exchange family, like friends, you
would be happy to do a B&B for Free exchange with them any time.
For less than the price of one night's lodging in most hotels,
you can exchange hosting with any number of other members, for any number of nights, for a
whole year!
